i recently came across the news of nikon’s new d3100 dslr model, a vamped up version of their current d3000. the biggest thing that stuck out was the 14 megapixels, which if you’re a nikon user, seems out of place. even their higher end models cap off at a comfortable 12 megapixels, but perhaps the reason for this upgrade is to support the fully capable 1080p video recorder, dwarfing even my emotionally attached life partner, the d90. it’s smaller, faster, and boasts techs that make me want to spend $700 so i can be even more amazing. what is a life savings anyway right…
here are some additional photos, some shot by me, but all taken from a disposable underwater camera. i’ve become so accustomed to the quality of digital cameras that these novelty cameras seem out of date. but, i do appreciate the grainy feel from an artistic stand point. these pictures are a compilation of the past few days where dave and rog went on a hike, the gang went spear fishing, and the three amigos magnifico went shark diving. no, this wasn’t shark week as i had hoped and these weren’t great whites. they were large fish none the less and it would seem razor teeth are no deterrent to the awesome poses dave and rog dished out.
these pictures were taken on the east side of the island as we headed to the sea life park. to our surprise, the park was expensive and fell way below our expectations. so instead we took a trip around the island and headed north back to our favorite shaved ice spot. on the way we drove through kailua and kahuku for the famous shrimp trucks. then it was back through the middle of the island when we headed home.
today’s destination was north shore. there we did some more snorkeling, baked in the sun, and watched as the ocean waves crashed and then run back out to sea. afterwards we treated ourselves to some shaved ice with ice cream in the center and i must say, there is nothing like it. tomorrow we continue our adventures, possibly into a shark cage.
exciting news! burton’s 2011 website is finally up, which means you can catch a sneak peak of all their new gear before it hits stores.
i’m on oahu right now visiting ross with some friends. our game plan is we have no game plan, we just go with it. on our first day, we made a small trip down to a cove uninhabited by the massive tourists that often flood the beaches. we immediately saw turtles swimming close to shore and a variety of other ocean creatures. the best part? the scenery of course. where else can you witness such an epic sunset, coupled by the clear skies, extremely good looking men, and the calming ocean waves.
being a scion fan and driver, this is pretty neat
Chris Rado has added another car to Team Need for Speed: an 1,100-horsepower all-wheel drive Scion TCtaking aim at the Time Attack series. It’s taken a few years to take the idea from concept to reality, and pictures of the build make it clear why. The zebra-marked tC with gold-plated bulkhead and hood-exit exhaust made its debut last weekend at Road Atlanta, and for some reason – maybe the snowplow? – we wouldn’t be surprised to see it on a mountain in Colorado someday.
